This is a very nice Federal 1839 Pattern Brass Belt Plate Buckle, made from the standard lead filled cast brass. It had a lovely patina on the front side, and has later wartime pattern brass "arrowhead" style attachment studs on the reverse. The plate measures measures approximately 3 3 8 x 2 1 8, and even has a bit of the original leather belt still attached around the attachment studs. The condition is very good
